As a sign of “good faith and good grace” Marshall County Councilwoman Nicole Cox suggested to council members that they approve the payment of $540 to the County Plan Commission Derek Jones for his services rendered after she tabled the payment during the July meeting for more information.
Cox said she, councilwoman Johnson and councilman Masterson met with Ty Adley the Plan Director in a great meeting but learned that most of the Plan Commission members had not been informed that the advertising and legal line items in the budget were out of money. Cox said at the most recent Plan Commission meeting Mr. Adley informed members of the budget and the shortfall they were facing. She said some of the members were not aware of what was happening.
Mrs. Cox said that a vendor showed up, Attorney Jones, and gave his services and the county council should approve payment of those services since Plan Commission members weren’t aware of the situation. She said, “He (Mr. Jones) did it knowing full-well that he was not approved by the council, but I think for the sake of the county there was a bill, and I think we need to pay it.”
Councilman Tim Harman made the motion to support Councilwoman Cox’s request to pay the bill and it was seconded by Mrs. Johnson. The motion passed with six members present. Councilman Will Patterson was absent from the meeting.
