Calling it a situation that "creates confusion for first responders," Cloverdale Town Manager Jason Hartman brought forth a notion of readdressing several roads and streets in Cloverdale to the town council recently.
Hartman pointed out there are several roadways, especially in the Stardust community, where the road names are the same, creating plenty of issues for first responders, mail carriers and delivery drivers, as well as city staff.
"It is an issue for police and fire, as well as UPS and FedEx and anyone trying to deliver packages," Hartman said.
He said that numerics throughout Cloverdale have "some serious issues."
"Sometimes, we have, for example, a 52 East Market Street, a 54 East Market Street and then a 50. Also, people have built houses on a lot you wouldn't think they would build on. We had that with duplexes in town recently. There is no way to fix that, but the county is going through a program where they will do this county-wide and this is a great opportunity to get on board and fix this," Hartman said.
According to Hartman, readdressing will "take some time," noting it will take months to address.
"We want to make sure we have done this right," Hartman said. "If we decide to proceed with changes, this will be months. There will be a lot of public interest because this is a change that will impact a lot of people. This is for safety."
The council took it all in as information and did not vote on the matter.
