The City of Shelbyville has announced the dates for heavy trash collection.
The spring cleanup will take place April 7-11, with items collected on normal trash collection days.
Items that will be removed include furniture, appliances (freon must be properly removed), wood, metal and other large household items.
Those items not accepted include tires, concrete, television, computers, or mixed piles of materials.
With a total of 8,600 stops along trash routes, each household is now limited to a pickup truck-sized load (8x6 feet, no higher than four feet).
Crews have 10 minutes per stop and anything exceeding that limit will be the property owner’s responsibility.
Items should be neatly stacked and separated by material type. City employees will not sort through mixed piles.
