On Monday evening, Donnie Davidson, Superintendent of City of Plymouth Utilities, announced the annual water main flushing program.
The City Water Department will begin flushing water mains Monday. This program will continue for approximately three weeks, with crews working Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Davidson said the purpose of water main flushing is to scour and clean the inside of the water mains, removing mineral deposits and any other debris that may be present. The flushing may result in slightly lower water pressure than usual and possibly discolored water for a short period. If the discolored water does occur, run the cold water only for a few minutes.
If the discolored water continues after a few minutes, contact the Plymouth Water Department at 574-936-2543, and a service person will investigate.
