Plymouth Police were conducting speed enforcement on U.S. 30 on Thursday, October 2nd, just after midnight. Officer Wallace initiated a stop on a vehicle traveling at 80 MPH in a posted 60 MPH zone, east of Michigan Road.
During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver, Jason Dicuru Astudillo, 25, of Chicago, was operating the vehicle without ever obtaining a valid driver's license. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marshall County Jail.
Dicuru Astudillo was given a court date with Marshall County Superior Court II and held on a $100 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
