Bremen woman arrested in fatal overdose case after multi-week investigation

A Bremen woman has been arrested and charged with dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death following an investigation into a fatal overdose that occurred in December.

Jaylin Silveus, 25, of Bremen, was taken into custody on Wednesday, February 4, and charged with Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, a Level 1 felony. She is being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.

The case began on December 18, 2025, when officers with the Marshall County Police Department were dispatched to an unattended death at a residence in the 14000-block of 3B Road in Plymouth just before 6 a.m.

Officers discovered 26-year-old Colten Silveus deceased inside the home. Evidence was recovered from the residence, and an investigation into the cause of death was immediately initiated. The Marshall County Coroner's office responded to the scene and took possession of the deceased.

A toxicology report received in January 2026 revealed lethal levels of controlled substances in Colten Silveus's blood. The cause of death was subsequently determined to be a drug overdose.

Detective Sergeant Jonathan Bryant conducted the investigation and identified persons of interest in connection with the fatal overdose. The investigation ultimately led to Silveus's arrest on the felony dealing charge.

The case involved collaboration between the Marshall County Police Department and the Bremen Police Department.
