Bremen to break ground on Transformational GROWTH Project September 1

The Town of Bremen will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday, September 1, for the Bremen GROWTH Project, a multi-site community development initiative designed to support housing, recreation, connectivity, and workforce growth in the town.

The Bremen GROWTH Project — which stands for Greenway, Recreation, Opportunities for Wage Growth & Transformational Housing — represents a significant investment in Bremen's future. The project is supported by $3.737 million in READI 2.0 funding and is designed to connect community assets while creating new opportunities for current and future residents.

Publicly announced plans include a three-mile greenway trail connecting Bremen's east and westside parks, its schools, and various existing and new housing developments. The project is expected to catalyze a broad range of housing options, with over 184 new units that will help Bremen attract and retain workers and other new residents.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, at Bremen Public Schools on South Baltimore Street, south of campus. State, regional, and local officials, along with community leaders, project partners, and local stakeholders, will participate in the event.

The Bremen GROWTH Project is intended to strengthen the town's long-term quality of life and economic competitiveness by attracting new residents and bringing together housing and connectivity.

The project is part of the South Bend–Elkhart Region's READI 2.0 investment strategy, which was developed to support projects that expand quality of life, attract talent, and encourage economic investment throughout the region.
