An autopsy is set for Monday in the investigation of a Howard County inmate who died at the hospital on Friday.
About 11:30 a.m., Howard County Correctional Officers and medical staff were notified of a male inmate not feeling well and having difficulty breathing. Allen Ray Booher, 68, of Kokomo, was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital.
According to a Howard County Sheriff’s Office press release, Booher suffered a medical episode while waiting for treatment. Despite live saving efforts by ER staff Booher was pronounced dead just before 1 p.m.
Toxicology and lab results are pending in the death investigation. An autopsy under direction of the Howard County Coroner’s Office will take place on Monday.
