The driver of the Ford Escape, Aniesha Himes, 20, of Argos, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office reports that a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday claimed the life of an Argos woman and seriously injured another driver.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash shortly after 6 p.m. on Lincoln Highway east of King Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Franco Milian, 46, was traveling west on Lincoln Highway and for an unknown reason crossed the centerline.
The truck sideswiped an eastbound 2023 Chrysler minivan while its driver was attempting an evasive maneuver toward a ditch to avoid being struck. It then struck a 2013 Ford Escape head-on in the eastbound lane.
The driver of the Ford Escape, Aniesha Himes, 20, of Argos, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marshall County Chief Deputy Coroner Dean Byers.
Police say the truck came to a rest facing south on Lincoln Highway before catching fire. Milian was reportedly pinned inside, and the fire was suppressed until firefighters could fully extinquish it and remove him.
Milian was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital. A passenger of his was reportedly uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation. The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire Department, Plymouth EMS, Lutheran EMS and Samaritan Helicopter.
