4th Annual Quack Out Hunger Duck Drop Set for Friday Evening in Plymouth

The Marshall County Neighborhood Center is gearing up for its 4th Annual Quack Out Hunger Duck Drop, taking place Friday evening, August 7th, during intermission of the Mayor's Summer of Music concert in River Park Square.

It's not too late to adopt a duck. A single duck is just $5, a 6-pack of Wonky Waddlers is $25, a Quack Pack of 15 ducks is $60, or you can adopt a whole flock of 30 ducks for $100. Ducks are available at the Neighborhood Center until noon Friday, and will also be available for adoption at the concert near the pavilion in River Park Square.

The funds raised from Quack Out Hunger go directly toward purchasing food items for the center's pantry. The Neighborhood Center relies solely on donations and a few grants, though it does benefit from rescued food provided by some local food stores and food businesses. The center spends an average of $3,000 to $3,200 each month to purchase fresh produce, dairy products including milk, butter, yogurt, and cheese, as well as eggs and a variety of pantry staples.

Chris Garner, Executive Director of the Neighborhood Center, said the number of clients has remained fairly steady, but the center is seeing more senior citizens who need help making ends meet. She also noted that only 4% of their clients use the pantry on a monthly basis.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers, with the first duck to cross the finish line winning $100, second place receiving $50, and third place taking home $25.
