A Plymouth man was arrested Monday evening after crashing into a parked vehicle at high speed while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, according to the Plymouth Police Department.
Plymouth Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Washington Street at approximately 9:35 p.m. Monday for a report of a vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers found that a vehicle had been traveling westbound on Washington Street at a high rate of speed when it crashed into a parked car. The collision also caused additional property damage to a neighboring residence.
The driver was identified as Nelson Antunez-Oliva, 22, of Plymouth.
Officers on scene suspected Antunez-Oliva was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Based on their observations and investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol level.
The results of the chemical test revealed that Antunez-Oliva was operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol level of more than .10%, exceeding Indiana's legal limit of .08%.
Antunez-Oliva was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged on three charges: operating while intoxicated – endangerment, reckless driving, and operating without a license.
