A 20-year-old Rochester man with a prior robbery conviction found himself in trouble once again after he allegedly was arrested for allegedly possessing a firearm and illegal drugs earlier this month.
According to to reports, a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy was informed on July 6, that Bryce Turner, 20, of Rochester, had purchased ammunition from a Rochester business. The sale had been illegal due to Turner being classified as a serious violent felon after a prior robbery conviction in Fulton County.
Witnesses stated Turner had went to the store with another unknown individual, who used their identification to purchase ammunition for Turner.
with the individual giving a store employee his identification while Turner purchased the ammunition.
It was further believed that on July 4, Turner was seen on Facebook live waving a handgun.
On August 4, police went to Turner's residence, but relatives stated he was not home. When speaking with Turner over the phone he stated to officers he was not willing to speak with them unless a lawyer was present.
A search warrant was given for Turner's home August 6, allowing police to discover a handgun, ammunition and marijuana in Turner's room. Turner was taken into custody at his place of employment. A bag of cocaine was also found on Turner during his arrest.
When interviewed by police Turner stated he only possessed the gun due to safety reasons. When asked where he got the firearm, Turner stated he found the gun on the ground while leaving a party in Elkhart.
Turner was booked at the Fulton County Detention Center August 6 on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 Felony; possession of cocaine, a Level 6 Felony; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
